Adkins Arboretum

Saturday, October 29
from 2pm until dusk
(Rain date Sunday October 30- same time)

Members will receive free admission in exchange for providing 2-3 digital images to the Arboretum for their use in publications and publicity. We are providing this information early so that members have an opportunity to participate in the Macro and Close-Up workshop from 8am-noon the same day.

Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

Saturday, November 19
from 6 am until ??

We are planning an outing to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge for Saturday, November 19. This will be in conjunction with some members of the online Travel Photographers Network. Our plan is to meet at 6:00 a.m. in the small parking lot on Key Wallace Drive that is right by the entrance to the Wildlife Drive. From there we will decide where to go next, either along the Wildlife Drive or out to Maple Dam Road and down to Shorters Wharf for sunrise photos (sunrise will be at 6:50 a.m.). After sunrise we will explore the Wildlife Drive looking for shots of the migrating ducks and geese, as well as great blue herons, bald eagles, and other critters.

There is no set end time to the shoot, but some of us will probably head somewhere to eat lunch together.

Note: The center portion of the Wildlife Drive is closed for construction, as is the main visitors center. The Wildlife Drive may be accessed from either end, and the entrance fee is waived for now. There is a temporary visitors center at the beginning of the Wildlife Drive.
